The Verdict? No Party On (Now What?)
The Verdict? No Party On (Now What?)

The verdict’s in: no holiday party for us this year.
Are you thinking along the same lines? Is your office leaning toward no party? That’s okay—there’s always next year! And besides, people are really great at coming up with suitable alternatives to the traditional office party. I mean, we kept ourselves entertained during lockdown, right? Raise your hand if you made bread. Obviously I’m not suggesting we all get together virtually and make bread (though you totally could), but it’s not the end of the world, and it’s certainly not the end of your holiday cheer.
Let’s refer to tandemhr.com. They suggest taking your ugly holiday sweater challenge virtual. This could be fun if you’re a larger company with employee message boards or something similar. Everyone can find the ugliest holiday sweater on the planet and post a selfie for their coworkers to enjoy. The grand prize could be anything—something yummy, a virtual gift card, you name it!
Or how about supporting local charities? This is what my company did last year and likely will again. The money normally spent on the holiday party helped many, and that’s a wonderful thing. Everyone’s been impacted by this pandemic in some way, and we could all use a little extra love right now. So why not do both? I know my boss plans to decorate and make the office super festive. This way, our clients can enjoy the holiday season, and the donation will ensure our community can, too.
