Stats: How’s Our Productivity?
Stats: How’s Our Productivity?
By: Lyndsey Walthall (Blog 28)
Last week we talked about working remotely and the 99% of us who’d prefer to keep it that way. We looked at some interesting statistics and discussed what it all means. Well, for this week’s blog, piggybacking off of that, just how productive have we really been in light of the pandemic? Sure, working from home seems to be everyone’s preference, but are we still doing our jobs? Has overall productively dropped in the last year and a half?
The answer’s simple: yes and no. According to hbr.org, companies that were thriving before the pandemic continued to thrive, while those that were not continued to struggle. Many factors played into this. Hbr.org says stay at home orders eliminated commute, thus freeing up time at both the beginning and end of the day. Some companies were able to capitalize on this new chunk of time, while others staggered under the weight of an increase in meetings. (12.9%, according to hbr.org.)
So how can you stay productive? Most of us have made the triumphant return to the office in some way by now, or will soon. Restrictions are lessening, and more and more people are getting vaccinated so we can all stay safe and healthy. But if your living room (or bedroom or kitchen table or creepy haunted attic) is still doubling as your office, here’re some tips to help stay productive: set a schedule and stick to it, have a designated workspace, don’t skip your breaks, minimize or eliminate digital distractions and, most importantly, sign up for a virtual office with us! We can manage your business mail and calls so you can stay focused and get it done.
