Self Confidence: Easier Said Than Done
Self Confidence: Easier Said Than Done

Raise your hand if you’ve ever struggled with liking yourself! Now raise the other hand if you’ve ever struggled to believe in yourself. Honestly, everyone on this planet should have both hands up. Who hasn’t doubted themselves, their abilities and their purpose before? We’ve all been down on ourselves, believing our brains when we shouldn’t. Especially in the business world, self confidence is crucial. How can you be expected to run an entire business if you don’t believe you can?
So let’s work on boosting our self confidence. A quick Google search on how to do just that leads us to verywellmind.com. According to them, boosting your self confidence leads to better performance, resilience and healthier relationships. The biggest way to accomplish this? Stop comparing yourself to others. Personally, I am extremely guilty of this. It’s a hard habit to break, I know, but it’s just detrimental. According to verywellmind.com, reminding yourself of your own strengths and successes is a good way to combat this. You are successful. You have done well in life.
Make note of how the people around you make you feel. Avoid those who judge or ridicule you in favor of the ones who encourage, accept and love you. Negativity—like positivity—is contagious. Everyone has bad days, but if you associate with someone who constantly sees the glass as half empty, maybe it’s time to rethink their role in your life.
I feel like it’s gotten to the point where I hit you over the head with this weekly, but getting up and physically moving is so important. Seriously! Move. Every day. Set sedentary reminders on your phone. Let your dog drag you out for an after dinner walk. Take the stairs. Move, move, move.
Verywellmind.com also stresses positive self talk, facing your fears and being kind to yourself. Trust me, my dark sense of humor is laughing, too, because it’s so easy on paper, but all we can do is try, right? So why not try together? We’re all amazing people—even when we forget.
