Let’s Get Social (Again)
Let’s Get Social (Again)
By: Lyndsey Walthall (Blog 23)
Piggybacking off of last week’s blog (because I had more to say but had to stop somewhere), let’s talk about the social media my company uses. That way, if you’re still trying to decide between platforms, you can leave today’s post with a better understanding of what’s out there.
Once again, let me preface this by repeating that I am no expert, and, unlike normal blogs, I won’t be doing any research, either. This is purely my opinion. That being said, I’ve been handling my company’s social media for two or three years. (I honestly can’t remember whether it was 2018 or 2019.) We’re active on FaceBook, Instagram, Google My Business, Bing and LinkedIn. Without a doubt, Instagram and Google My Business boast the most traffic. With Instagram, it’s very simple to build a network of similar businesses. Remember how we talked about watching others in your field to learn the ropes? Welcome to how I learned how to do this! Instagram is a great, interactive tool with millions of users at your disposal. I recommend using hashtags and not being afraid to use a lot. There’s a fine line between overwhelming (or boring) your audience and extending your product as far as possible. Hashtags are crucial to flourish on social media. Pay attention to what hashtags earn what posts the most views/likes and build from there.
The second busiest platform (for my company) is Google My Business. We get consistent photo views, website hits, direction inquiries and phone calls. My advice is to keep a steady upload schedule, as the more pictures you post, the more traffic it creates. Also, when making posts, familiarize yourself with the “learn more” button. Personally, I make ours a direct link to our website for convenience, but you can punch in whatever you want. It’s a great way to keep someone hooked beyond the initial ad to maintain their interest (and active research) in your product.
