As a small business owner, you will have to wear a variety of different hats and wear them well in order to be successful. A small business owner usually works much longer hours than their employees and have far less down time than anyone else in the company. Even though you want to have your hands in every facet of your business, in most cases this is not possible. The best way to make sure that all of the tasks around your serviced office get done in a timely manner is by delegating to the trusted employees that you have. The following are a few helpful tips that will allow you to properly delegate tasks around your workspace.
Assess Your Workforce
The first thing that needs to happen before you begin to delegate any of the tasks that you have is to do a thorough assessment of your workforce. You need to consider which of your employees is the most trustworthy and will be able to take on the responsibilities that you bestow upon them. The last thing that you want to do in this situation is to delegate responsibilities to an employee that is not able to follow through with the job.
Performing a Follow Up
Once you have found the right employee to delegate some tasks to, you need to make sure that you set clear goals for them. Make sure to hold them accountable for all of the milestones that you set so they know how serious the job you have given them is. You need to make sure that you follow up on the job you have given to make sure that everything is being done to your liking in regards to the job that they have.
