Bored? Try A Change of Scenery!
Bored? Try A Change of Scenery! By Lyndsey Walthall
Face it, a year into this pandemic, you’ve become quite familiar with your home. Until now, you never noticed the colony of cobwebs in the corner of the kitchen, and you never would’ve cared how many steps it takes to get from the couch to the bathroom and back. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? As the saying goes, we’re all in this together.
But it doesn’t change the monotony. The isolation. Day in and day out for the last 12 months, you’ve been diligently working from home, probably accompanied by judgmental pets wondering why you’re suddenly in their space 24/7, or a spouse and kids navigating their own new normal. Did you know productivity and motivation take a nosedive when boredom sets in? On a scale of 1 to 10, how bored are you right now?
A change of scenery is good for us! No, really. Mixing up not only how your home office is organized, but where it’s located, instantly boosts creativity and overall well-being. Human beings aren’t meant to be stagnant, and that includes our environment. Try this: instead of staring at the cobwebs in the kitchen all day, set up shop in the living room, a bedroom, a cozy nook. Incorporate new activities as often as you can, such as trying out a new delicious recipe for dinner or taking a different route on your daily walk.
Better yet, why not grab a part time office at BCI? It’s safe, convenient and cobweb free. Not only will it be a total change of scenery for an afternoon or two, there’re no pets waiting to judge you. Just friendly staff members who want your business to succeed as much as you do!
For now, there’s nothing we can do about the big picture. We just have to be patient and take care of each other. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do small things every day to make life more bearable. So give it a try—a change of scenery, that is!
